Why Curiosity Is An Important Quality For Top Students

Why Curiosity Is An Important Quality For Top Students Why Curiosity Is An Important Quality For Top Students By Corbin B AC/DC claimed it was a long way to the top if you want to rock ‘n’ roll, but I’ve found that to be true of any highly ambitious goal. In 2017, I graduated from the University of Nevada, Las Vegas with my MBA with a finance concentration. I’d like to say that completing the MBA program provided everything I needed to reach the next level of my career. That it was a “silver bullet”. However, this wasn’t the case. Instead, I owe a great deal to my curiosity about subjects and topics outside the normal MBA curriculum. During my MBA program I was encouraged to consider topics beyond the normal economic theory, financial ratios, and valuation techniques that would be common for a finance curriculum. Rather than focusing on only traditional topics, I began to study other fields with the intention of understanding the world a bit better than I previously did. This experience undoubtedly provided me with the biggest benefit of my higher education experience. At the time, I was exploring various topics that didn’t seem to fit with my future career plans. It was an odd strategy that I wasn’t sure would ever pay off. Today, I’m happy to say that the return on my curiosity is more than I could have ever imagined. In my current profession, I’m required to understand a variety of industries. I am in a finance career, but clients are in industries from oil gas to ecommerce and commercial real estate. The ability to open a browser, or even pick up a book, and start to learn about an entirely new industry is exciting and truly rewarding. I credit a good part of my ability to fully engage myself in new material to an entrepreneurial course I completed during my MBA. The professor of this course was exciting and eccentric, and the class only had one assignment: to come up with a new product or service and figure out how to take it to market. Until that point, I had always thought I was a creative person, but now I had to go outside of my comfort zone and try to think up something new and exciting. Naturally, this required becoming familiar with topics that I had not previously been exposed to. Learning to soak up knowledge about topics beyond my normal remit was an invaluable lesson and I continue to be amazed every time I’m able to use a seemingly random piece of information to solve a business problem. This is why I’d advise students to consume information on anything and everything, even if it doesn’t make sense at the time. In and of itself, the MBA degree was not a silver bullet that provided me with all my hopes and dreams, but learning how important it is to be curious about the wider world and soak up knowledge like a sponge has been key to helping me achieve my goals.

It deals with multiple natures of products such as hair care products, personal care products including cosmetics (Nguyen, 2013), tissues, odor control product s, home care products such as detergent and much more (PG, 2014). Company says à ¢Ã¢â€š ¬Ã…“We are in the business of making life better every day, our each packet is equal to each vaccine towards the betterment and enhancementà ¢Ã¢â€š ¬Ã‚ (PG, 2014) and it is working firmly on that. Some of those star brands are Ariel, Tide, Vicks, Crest Tooth Paste, Gillette products, Head Shoulder shampoo, Olay, Oral-B, Pantene (PG, 2014), Always, Bounce, Herbal Essence (Forbes, 2014), Ivory soap, Gain, Whisper, Mr. Clean, Puffs tissues, Safeguard soaps which earns net profit of Billions of US Dollars every twelve months (PG, 2014). It has its head quarters in Singapore for Asian region (Lafley, 2008). Critical discussion And Strategies of Procter and Gamble: One of the most important and say efficient strategy of Procter Gamble is availability of its products (Global-Operations, n.d.). Products manufactured by this company are highly available worldwide and are being offered and sold on convenience stores, super markets, hotels, motels, retailers, wholesalers, drug stores and intermediaries (MIT, 2015). The product availability of the company gives it an edge and makes it far superior that its competitors like Unilevers etc (SlideShare, 2015). Consumers get products easily and effortlessly when they are in need of a vaccine to make their life better (Favaro, 2013). The availability and accessibility of the specific products makes it brand brawny and hefty (PG, 2015). This in turns makes customer loyalty towards the brand much tough and muscular with time and targeted customers start trusting the brand, and same is the case with Procter Gamble (PG, 2015). Supply chain of the brand is as strong as it needs to be in order to result in a successful chain management (Favaro, 2013). Likewise many other competitors of the brand, PG a further strategy is Research and Development (Riley, 2014). Brand devote approximately $2 billion each year on its RD department contains 8000 employees around the world (Ng, 2015). In spite of having 8000 employees in its RD department, company somehow failed to initiate a further brand successfully (Nisen, 2013). Hence, it faced intricacy regarding the department. One of the professors, named Charles Fine suggested the company to have a view on the world as innovation lab (SlideShare, 2012). Subsequ ently they start sourcing innovation through valued supply chain network as they deals the customer on one on one basis because of which they are rich on the drawbacks as well as the complains for products (MODE, 2015). This step resulted in innovation success rate three times than it was before. To take advantage of the advice, PG also launched its own website which motivates and welcomes innovations as well as feedback by the targeted customers, shareholders, stakeholders, partners and general public for further enhancement of the products (Khosla Sawhney, 2014). Another significant strategy being applied by Procter Gamble as an efficient and effective tool is change management (GCI, 2014). The company observes and on the blink of an eye takes action to bring up the change and exploit the opportunity to meet consumerà ¢Ã¢â€š ¬Ã¢â€ž ¢s expectation on the very first place (Neff, 2014). As competition is growing faster and fastest, very next moment involves business bodies i n the shock of sudden and significant change. PG is a brand, who knows splendidly about their vision (Tode, 2014). Company takes change management as its one of the most crucial and unavoidable manner (Lafley, 2014). Nobody cares how much you know, until they know how much you care, said by Theodore Roosevelt (Forbes, 2012). Famous saying that is being followed by PG as it should be as it focuses and devotes more of its attention and care to the products who works as stars in portfolio and because of which entire corporation is enjoying free lunches, such as US market is strongest market being targeted by PG (SlideShare, 2012) and they are continuously treating it as focal point with jam-packed devotion and dedication in order to make it strongest (PG, 2014). Before finishing the strategy, I more point to be mentioned is Procter Gambleà ¢Ã¢â€š ¬Ã¢â€ž ¢s strategy is concentrating on improving operations, at least better than competitors (SlideShare, 2013). This is one of the ric h ways to win customers trust and loyalty towards the brand (PG, 2014). When introducing to one more line of attack of Procter Gamble, it is essential to say that to uphold and retain its brand image; it is all about captivating trust and confidence from the targeted segment of market (Pakistan-Business-Journal, 2015). At the end of the day, all the steps, strategies, planning, developing and designing starting from a scratch is followed by a reason of winning trust and loyalty from customers because when nothing else seems to be helpful, this tactic does and it is not a piece of cake to get oneà ¢Ã¢â€š ¬Ã¢â€ž ¢s trust. It takes abundant of efforts and plentiful of care, since one slip can destroy the whole. One more strategy being introduced recently by Procter Gamble is à ¢Ã¢â€š ¬Ã…“Connect+Developà ¢Ã¢â€š ¬Ã‚ . In this age of advancement, where the whole of the universe has become a global village, the connection is necessary for any company to float up in the livel y market with its loyal consumers. However, in this social age, in which each and every individual is socializing has made us little more aware about our surroundings and circumstances taking place in this village (PG, 2015). Bruce Brown, Chief Technology Officer said à ¢Ã¢â€š ¬Ã…“this strategy has helped us to deliver a number of successful and leading innovations which has accelerated the growth of Procter Gamble criticallyà ¢Ã¢â€š ¬Ã‚ . The company is by hook or by crook managing to uphold this strategy and maintain its prospering innovation rate. Laura Becker, General Manager said that they wanted develop and connect themselves in order to deliver products that has a greater level of innovation such as Swiffer Dusters which has broken down the innovations for market place manipulation. Moreover, she also stated that a category of products will be made that changes marketplace, and attracts customers which claim that they require the companyà ¢Ã¢â€š ¬Ã¢â€ž ¢s product s as they fulfill their requirement as per their wishes (PG, 2012). RECOMMENDATIONS In order to maintain its position in the market, Procter Gamble should keep an eye on its most profitable brands and products to even polish them so that not any competitor would have been able to eradicate the demand of leading products. For example, Swiffer Dusters-a product introduced by PG which changed the direction of market trend so seriously. As market conditions and market trends are changing so drastically these days, Procter Gamble should have a close look than its competitors to innovate and exploit opportunity from the changing trends of market. If brand to be a brand get successful innovations, it could have touch top position in the markets as well as in the sights of consumers, investors, shareholders, stockholders and regulating bodies. Creating a recommendation culture could aid to Procter Gamble for being more victorious and unbeaten company in the market. Motivating and encouraging culture could be proved as back bone behind the success of the brand. Managing change as soon as possible could also be proved as a strong tool behind the success. Since incorporating change in this unpredictable competing environment cold give support to the accomplishment of goals, reaching to the vision and creating win-win situation at the end of both, consumers and company. Better growth opportunities to the employees will in return adds to employeeà ¢Ã¢â€š ¬Ã¢â€ž ¢s sincerity and dedication towards work. Employees, who are the core bodies of any organization, will work dedicatedly and devotedly for their organizations, this will result in better quality works and services to the organization. Quality assurance and image building could also prove to be helpful to capture the minds of targeted consumers. CONCLUSION Procter Gamble was founded by William Procter and James Gamble. It deals with multiple products such as hair care products, personal care products including cosmetics. Millions and billions of customers uses PGà ¢Ã¢â€š ¬Ã¢â€ž ¢s products which satisfy their needs and demand. Procter and Gamble serves more than 180 countries and 6.5 million customers across the globe. One of the most important and efficient strategy of Procter Gamble was found to be its itemà ¢Ã¢â€š ¬Ã¢â€ž ¢s availability. Consumers get products easily and effortlessly when they are in need of a vaccine. The availability and accessibility of the specific products makes it brand brawny and hefty. This in turns makes customer loyalty towards the brand much tough and muscular with time and targeted customers start trusting the brand, and same is the case with Procter Gamble. The company obser ves and takes action to bring up change and exploit the opportunity to meet consumerà ¢Ã¢â€š ¬Ã¢â€ž ¢s expectation at instant. The Complex Biology Of The Female Body - 866 Words

The complex biology of the female body is the foundation of life’s most basic instinct: to survive and reproduce. The ability to bear and bring new life to earth, hormonal fluctuations, and menstruation cycles that follow the moon like the tides of the ocean all add to the mystique of ‘the woman’. Although the biology of a woman is very important (and fundamentally different from the biology of a man), it would be inappropriate to believe that biological sex is solely what makes a woman. This would be reducing humans to the animal level, and would be inaccurate because humans above all are social beings. In society today, gender roles and stereotypes put pressure on a woman to conform to cultural expectations. Is there a disconnect between who a woman feels she is on the inside and whom the outside world expects a woman to be because of her body? It seems to be that a combination of the biology and the way a woman identifies with herself would be the most appropri ate way to describe what makes a woman a â€Å"woman†. Sex is a biological matter: It includes genetic makeup, hormones, and body parts, especially the sex and reproductive organs. A female is the â€Å"individual of the sex which conceives and brings forth young.†(par doc) Most would agree that the female position in reproduction involves a lot more time, effort, and pain than the male counterpart. In fact, until the changes in delivery procedures in the past fifty years, the mortality rate of those giving birth to a childShow MoreRelatedGender Verification Of Olympic Sports1382 Words   |  6 Pagesintroduced into the Olympics as a mandatory test. Is Discrimination Killing America - 1092 Words

Is Discrimination Killing America? Eric Brene once said, â€Å"The moment a little boy is concerned with which is a jay and which is a sparrow, he can no longer see the birds or hear them sing.† This quote is not only powerful and alarming but it too can shed some light on the situation here in America regarding discrimination. Discrimination is a plague of society that has cast a shadow over this country and has caused tension among us in the process. The question remains: is discrimination killing America? Discrimination is defined as, â€Å"treatment or consideration of, or making a distinction in favor of or against, a person or thing based on the group, class, or category to which that person or thing belongs rather than on individual merit,† (Dictionary.com 1). This debate over whether or not discrimination is killing America is more prevalent now than ever, with the case of Ahmed Mohamed. Ahmed Mohamed was simply a 14-year-old student, who brought an invention that he worked so hard and diligently to produce into school, and ended up in prison. The reason as to why he was put in handcuffs and taken from school: a clock. A homemade clock in which he made, and brought into school to show one of his teachers, caused Ahmed to be arrested. There is heavy debate as to whether or not the clock did look a bomb, but without a shadow of a doubt, that the clock was labeled as a bomb due to Ahmed’s nationality. Index Minerals Defined and Explained in Geology

As rocks are subjected to heat and pressure, they change or metamorphose. Different minerals appear in any given rock depending upon the type of rock and the amount of heat and pressure the rock undergoes. Geologists look at the minerals in rocks to determine how much heat and pressure — and thus how much metamorphosis — the rock has undergone. Certain minerals, called index minerals, only appear in certain rocks at certain pressures, Thus, index minerals can tell geologists how much the rock has metamorphosed. Examples of Index Minerals The most widely used index minerals are,  in ascending order of pressure/temperature,  are biotite,  the zeolites,  chlorite,  prehnite, biotite,  hornblende,  garnet, glaucophane, staurolite,  sillimanite,  and glaucophane.   When these minerals are found in particular types of rocks, they can indicate the minimum amount of pressure and/or temperature the rock has experienced. For example, slate, when it undergoes metamorphosis, changes first to phyllite, then to schist, and finally to gneiss. When slate is seen to contain chlorite, it is understood to have undergone a low grade of metamorphosis. Mudrock, a sedimentary rock, contains quarts at all grades of metamorphosis. Other minerals, however, are added as the rock undergoes different zones of metamorphosis. The minerals are added in the following order: biotite, garnet, staurolite, kyanite, sillimanite. If a piece of mudrock contains garnet but no kyanite, it has probably undergone only a low grade of metamorphosis. If, however, it contains sillimanite, it has undergone extreme metamorphosis.

The Effects Of Bipolar Disorder On The Development Of Self

Bipolar Disorder is described in the Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders (DSM 5) as a mood disorder with manic symptoms. Individuals with the disorder may swing between periods of depression and mania. Bipolar disorder has subtypes characterized by the frequency and intensity of manic and depressive episodes. Onset typically occurs when one is a young adult, but can often occur during the early teen years. The qualitative study examined how a sense of self and or an identity develops for those with the disorder. Psychosocial development is a challenge in itself for most teens. In this study the researchers described finding that bipolar disorder made this developmental process more challenging. According to, Inder et al. (2008), â€Å"Bipolar disorder created experiences of confusion, contradiction, and self-doubt which made it difficult for these participants to establish continuity in their sense of self.† They continued to describe how living with the disorder can be di sruptive and prevent one from looking at themselves as separate from their condition. Their results showed the importance of viewing bipolar disorder within a psychosocial developmental framework. By doing so, one can consider the impact of the disorder on the developing self-identity. This study discovered that there is a need to utilize interventions that would help individuals not focus on themselves related to their illness but instead to foster increased self-acceptance and integration which would then develop a stronger self and identity. During the course of this study the researcher used an interview and interpretation process which allowed them to garner common themes from their interview responses. They found that the disorder has a profound impact in a variety of areas. Themes emerged that included

Process Analysis How to Change Your Oil free essay sample

In order to keep your car running well, you must regularly change your oil and oil filter. This involves draining the old oil, changing the oil filter, replacing the oil with clean oil, and disposing of the old oil. The equipment required includes four to six liters of oil, a socket wrench, a funnel, an oil filter, a car jack, an oil catch-pan, and oil rags or paper towels. The first step in changing your oil is to place the car jack under the frame of the car and lift it up high enough for you to lie underneath. This allows you to have easy access to the oil pan. After the car is lifted to a comfortable height, turn the car on and idle it for two to three minutes in order to warm up the oil. Heating up the oil allows it to drain more quickly and ensures you stir up all of the loose sediment in the oil. We will write a custom essay sample on Process Analysis: How to Change Your Oil or any similar topic specifically for you Do Not WasteYour Time HIRE WRITER Only 13.90 / page Once your car is warmed up and turned off, remove the oil cap. The cap is located under the hood of your car on top of the engine. This is where you will add oil after you are done draining the old oil. Doing this will help the oil drain more easily because air can flow in as the lines empty. Once this step is completed, you will need to lie under your car and look for a flat metal pan close to the engine. It should have a bolt or plug toward the bottom. This is the oil plug you will need to remove in order for the used oil to drain. Directly beneath the plug, place your pan with a couple of paper towels beneath that for catching the oil. Removing this plug can be tricky; the oil will come out of the pan as soon as you do this. You will begin by loosening the plug counter-clockwise with the proper sized socket wrench. Once you have loosened the plug with your wrench, remove it the rest of the way with your hand. Make sure you have your oil catch-pan placed directly beneath the oil pan before you remove the plug. You must also be careful not to drop the plug into the used oil; it is a messy job trying to find the plug in the black stuff. Now you wait. It will take several minutes for all the oil to drain out of the engine. When the oil has ceased running out of the crankcase, replace the plug. Hand tighten it at first to make sure you are not cross-threading the oil plug when you screw it back in, and then tighten it the rest of the way with your wrench. While you are poking around underneath the car, take a minute to locate the oil filter. You will need to replace this next. This next step requires you to locate the filter assembly. Filters are not put in a standard position, so they can be on the front, on the back or on the side of engine depending on the model. Examine the replacement filter you purchased to get an idea of what to look for. Typically, they are white, blue, or black cylinders about five inches long and three inches wide, like a soup can. After you find the filter, unscrew it. Get a good grip with your hands and twist counter-clockwise at a slow and steady pace. Make sure the catch-pan is still under the car collecting the spilling oil; there will be some oil trapped in the filter that will be released when unscrewed. In order to prepare the new filter, dip the tip of your finger in the new replacement oil and smear it on the gasket ring of the new filter. This will lubricate the gasket and create a good seal for the new filter and ensure that you will be able to remove the filter later. Carefully screw on the new, lubricated filter, being careful to not cross the threads. The filter will generally say how tight to tighten it, so refer back to the directions on the box for more specific instructions. In general, you will tighten the filter until the gasket touches, then one quarter-turn more. With all of the openings plugged, it is time to replace the oil that was removed. Now, you will add the new oil to the car at the hole made by removing the oil cap. The quantity needed is in the car’s owners manual, usually listed under â€Å"capacities.† To prevent a spill on the engine, use the funnel to control the flow of the oil. When you have added the required amount of oil, replace the cap. To get the pressure up and ensure you have installed everything correctly, start the engine and run it for two minutes. This is also when you reset your oil change light. Voila, you have just changed your oil. Now that you have completed your task, it is time get the sludgy mess into a more permanent container. Adding the used oil to the new container you have just emptied or an empty milk jug is the best disposal technique. Once your catch-pan is drained, make sure your oil filter is also empty. You can add this oil to your disposal container and then you may dispose of your old oil in a designated collection site. Typically, all places that sell motor oil will have this information on hand. Changing your own oil is  significantly less expensive than having a professional do the work. Over time, your oil will break down again and your filter will become clogged with contaminants. Depending upon your driving habits and type of vehicle, this may take as few as three months or 3,000 miles, or be as long as 20,000 miles or twenty-four months. When this time comes, you now know how to solve the problem.

IINET Buyers Club a Stakeholder Analysis †Myassignmenthelp.Com

Question: Discuss About the IINET Dallas Buyers Club? Answer: Introduction: This particular case is about the movie Dallas Buyers Club, the copyright of which is won by the Voltage Pictures and the internet pirates or iiNet customers, who are alleged to download the movie over the internet. Of about 4726 customers of iiNet have been alleged to download the movie over the internet and this case was finally over in the year 2016 in February 11th and the verdict of the court was in a way which makes clear that the piracy have won over the copyright. There were more than 4700 customers who were caught illegally sharing the movie over the internet, but the verdict was in favour of them as the Australian court dismissed the claim of the copyright owners Voltage Pictures (Jean et al., 2013). The policy that applies to the law is online exclusive rights infringement and this case was launched in the year 2012 by Voltage Pictures against six service providers of the internet among which the main party was iiNet. The film was buffered with the help of the BitTorrent and IP address of 4726 customers was tracked down (The Sydney Morning Herald, 2017). In April, 2015 it was told that Dallas Buyers Club can only take the charges form the customers for downloading the film and the problem with the case is that, DBS didnt had the IP address of the buyer and for getting the IP address, the charge that DBC has to pay to the court amounted to $600,000 (The Sydney Morning Herald, 2017). In this particular assignment, the problems regarding the policy have been identified and also the stakeholders of the organization have been identified and the roles of the stakeholders are also analysed and how they influence the policy. Problems related to the policy: Copyright infringement is a centralized communal basis of action. The infringement of copyright is a process which is related to duplication of the original work that has been performed or has been reproduced (Pallante, 2012). In this particular case, the copyright infringement related to DBS has been indentified and in this particular case, it can be seen that the movie was released in the internet with the help of BitTorrent and downloaded from the internet service provider sites like iiNet. There are various problems that are related to the policy were discovered as it was passed in the court of Australian law and various problems identified related to the policy are discussed below: Financial: The financial problems that are related to the law is that the Dallas Buyers Club movie will lose big market due to the leakage of the film over the internet and as the seeding of the movie is done with the help of the BitTorrent, there are many such potential viewers of the movie who downloaded the film over the internet and watched the movie and as a result they didnt visit the theatre to watch the film (Borten and Wallack, 2014). For this reason, the movie lost a huge amount of potential viewers and suffered a great loss due to the problem in the policy making of the court. They also had to take the money from the iiNet customers for watching the movie a little cum of $ 20 from each customer which is just a little amount while compared with the loss of Dallas Buyers Club. Technical: The technical difficulty related to the policy is that, the piracy over the internet will increase due to the decision that has been taken and also more and more movies have the chances to get leaked in the future as the verdict of the court was against Dallas Buyers Club (Pascale, 2015). The movie pirates in future can leak more movies over the internet and they can seed more movies with the help of Bit Torrent. The technical issues that are also related to the case are that already movie industry since the year 2006 has lost a lot of revenue for the reason of piracy and as the verdict of DBC case is not against the movie pirates, this will worsen the situation more in the near future. Legal: The legal problems related to the case is that, the Voltage Pictures is unable to take any strict actions against the customers who leaked the pictures and what Voltage Pictures can just do is that, they can collect $ 20 from each customers for watching the movie over the internet and not any legal actions can be taken against them for downloading the movie and seeding the movie with the help of BitTorrent (Suzor, 2015). It was also declared that Dallas Buyers Club will also have to pay $600,000 in order to gain the IP address of the more than 4700 customers. Social: The social problems that are related to the policy is that, the increase in piracy will increase the amount of movies that will be leaked over the internet and also make the economy of the society weak as a result (Jacobs et al.,, 2012). The social problems that is related to the policy also states that as a result of this verdict that has been provided by the law, will increase the privacy of the movies and also increase more movies in the internet related to pornography and so on which will have a very bad influence on the society. Economical: The economical influence that is related to the policy is that, Dallas Buyers Club will lose a lot of money due to the decision as they have lost their potential viewers due to the leakage of the movie over the internet and also if this situation persists as the verdict was provided, there will be more piracy of movies over the internet and in future, the economy of the country will become more weak if this situation goes on. Stakeholders in the trial: Stakeholders: A stakeholders can be either a person, or an organization or a group which can be influenced by the decision making process of the organization either negatively or positively (Werther Jr. and Chandler, 2010). The policies that were made in this particular case have some serious effects on the stakeholders and they will be described below. Stakeholders of the case: Internet service providers: There are six internet service providers that were included in the case and the foremost of them being iiNet. The internet service providers are the sites in which the viewers are able to view the movies online and in exchange of certain amount of money. From the sites of iiNet and other internet service providing sites illegal downloads were made by more than 4700 customers and the movie was released over the internet with the help of seeding the movie from BitTorrent. More than 352,000 unlawful downloads took place during that time and so, the internet service providers like iiNet and others are considered as one of the main stakeholders of this particular case (The Sydney Morning Herald, 2017). Voltage Pictures: Another main stakeholder of the case is the copyright owner of Dallas Buyers Club which is the Voltage Pictures. The verdict by the Australian Court of Law was against the Voltage Pictures and it was said that no actions will be taken against the customers and also Voltage Pictures will have to pay $600,000 in order to get the IP address of the customers who downloaded the picture illegally (White et al., 2015). Also, it can be done that the customers who downloaded the film illegally over the internet service providers can be made to pay $ 20 each for watching the film over the internet. The Voltage Picture is the creator of the movie and the verdict that was provided by the court was mostly against them. Justice, Nye Perram: Justice Nye Perram is another stakeholder in this case with high power and he is the one in whose hands verdict was there. Nye Perram after going through everything, decided to provide verdict in favour of the customers of iiNet and other internet service providers. According to him, it was necessary for the Voltage Pictures to provide $600,000 in order to get the list of customers IP address that downloaded the movie illegally and released it over the internet and also according to the justice it can be done that the customers can pay $ 20 as a watching cost of the movie over the internet service provider. Society: The society can be termed as another stakeholder as the influence of the decision that has been made in the court of law will also have an effect on them. The society can be influenced by the piracy of the movies and in future there can be more problems that can arise as piracy of the movies like pornographic movies which are harmful for the society. Also piracy of the movies will also have a negative effect on the economy of the country as well as on the society. Customers of internet service providers: The customers of internet service providers like iiNet or the ones who downloaded the movie illegally is one of the main stakeholders of this case. The customers are the main stakeholders as more than 4700 customers have downloaded the movie illegally and seeding of the movie has been done with the help of the BitTorrent (Cheema, 2016). The main case is against the customers and the internet service providers from which the download took place. BitTorrent: BitTorrent can be regarded as another stakeholder as the movie seeding was done with the help of Bit Torrent and more than 352,000 downloads were made which were illegal. This had an influence on the revenue of Dallas Buyers Club. Federal Government: Federal Government of the country will also have an influence on the decision of the law that will be taken in the court of justice (Golder and Sawyer, 2015). The Federal Government of the country will be influenced as the economic condition of the country will be weakened with more pirated works that will take place in future due to the decision that has been made in the court of law. Identify the role and influence the stakeholders have on information policy: There are different kinds of influence that each stakeholder has on the verdict of law and they are mentioned below: Internet service providers influence: The internet service providers influence on this particular case is very high as they are the ones who have allowed the downloading of the movies by their customers and Dallas Buyers Club was downloaded by the customers of the internet service provider sites like iiNet and others. Voltage Pictures influence: Voltage picture is another stakeholder who will have high influence on the case as the Dallas Buyers Club movie belongs to them and piracy of the movie and copyright infringement has affected them the most (White et al., 2017). Justice Nye Perrams influence: Influence of Justice Nye Perram will also be high in this case as he is the decision maker of this case and the justice will be provided by him. Also, the final decision taken by him will be the verdict of the Federal court and for that reason, it can be said that Justice Nye Perram will have high influence in this case. Society influence: The influence on the society will also be high as the verdict of the court will decide the level of influence it will have on the society. In this particular case, the influence is high as more piracy in the future will make the economy of the country weak and also bad influences like pornographic films can also be pirated in future. Customers of iiNet and other sites influence: The customers of iiNet and other sites will also have a high influence in this case, as they are the reasons behind the mishap and the case. As the customers downloaded the movie and released it over BitTorrent, Voltage Pictures, who have the copyright of the movie, faced various problems. So the customers will have a high influence in this particular case (Rimmer, 2015). Bit Torrent: BitTorrent is the application with the help of which the movie seeding was done and BitTorrent being a third party in the case have low influence in this case. BitTorrent was not directly involved at all in this particular case. Movie Industry: Movie industry will also have low influence in this case as only one movie was pirated with the help of internet service providers site and not all the movies were targeted. Twilight Essay Example

Twilight Essay Example Twilight Essay Twilight Essay The myth of the vampire existed in a multitude of civilizations and cultures under various names such is strigoi (for the Romanian territory), Apotamkin, etc. But no matter the name, vampires will always refer to gothic creatures that drain the blood of humans, thus being monstrous. The first writer to introduce the vampire in literature was Lord Byron in the eighteenth century, but the most significant writer to develop the myth was Bram Stoker. He is the „father† of the vampire as he gave a complete description of the vampire in his most famous book† Dracula†. After the release of the book, the myth of the vampire became extremely popular amongst writers and as a consequence the books whose main characters were vampires sky-rocketed. Amongst the most famous contemporary writers which developed and modified the myth of the vampire is Stephenie Meyer with her famous „Twilight†. In her book we find a multitude of deviations from the myth but still she keeps many things as they are with the main purpose of enhancing the vampire’s romantic features. For instance, when Bella takes on the task of finding out the reason why Edward isn’t allowed to come to the La Push beach, she finds a book which describes what Edward is. When searching the camera focuses on all the key words that point to the unnatural and supernatural abilities which Edward has: „the cold one†, one who drinks† the immortal drink† , „undead†, „immortal† and so on. On the other hand Twilight is a complete success, so much so that most of the films flaws work within the context of the story. Personally I would think that the book was better than the movie. For the reason that whilst reading a book anyone can make their imagination run, but when watching a movie all the thinking is done for the viewer. In some cases of a book being made into a film, it is the book that is more fascinating, for the reason that books appear to use more words of description that a movie could not be able to portray. The theme of a love affair between predator and prey, the lion falling in love with the lamb[1] (as said in the book), did not get revealed enough in the movie compared to what the book had showed. Twilight had a reasonable story line and it had some action scenes to keep me entertained but I felt it could have had a more spellbinding plot seeing as how the film was about blood thirsty vampires. While Twilight is about a vampire, the film itself is a romantic comedy rather than a vampire/horror/action. Producers and directors used the grainy grey filter in order to give a gothic dark atmosphere to the movie. They also insured that they used skewed camera angles to make the film more like a movie than a music video. Applying shots such as close ups, pans, birds eye view, gave the sense of action and made the movie more fascinating. And by using non dietetic and dietetic shots furthermore enhanced the climax a certain scenes in the movie. The director, Catherine Hardwicke said that we were not settled on a specific visual rhythm and the film looks uneven. When we started shooting there were no clear markers on how this film was meant to be structured in terms of cinematography [2] and that made the film in some sense appear to be dated and uninspired. Overall, Id have to say that nothing reached 1my expatiations, although nothing was horrible. The film did its job, and there is always room for growth in the next few films that are said to being made (new moon and eclipse). The first in a series isnt always the strongest, and this one provides a decent structure for future events.

Britan Industrial Relations Sytem Essay Example | Topics and Well Written Essays - 3000 words

Britan Industrial Relations Sytem - Essay Example In the 19th century Britain was at the peak of its power it ruled over a huge territory. In fact the whole world. It is the leading industrial and naval power of the 19th century; it led the way in developing parliamentary democracy and in advance literature as well as science. The British industrial relations system has a long history and has gone through much change in recent years. Industrial relations are also known as employee relations. Employee relation is are partly concerned with groups of employees who are represented by trade unions (Ed 2004 p 4). There are three phases in the evolution of employee relations since the end of the World War II, the third one being the partnership approach. Until 1979 (date of the election of the Conservative Party), work relations were based on collective bargaining and collective agreement aiming to determine and regulate, in varying degrees, the terms on which individuals will be employed (Flanders 1968 p35), with a strong voluntarism encouraged massively and informally. The trade unions (basically, it is an association of wage earners, totally independent of employers pressure, who struggle to improve work conditions) had a lot of power and everything was negotiated through deals. A Trade Union, through collective bargaining can force employers to deal with labour as a collective identity, rather than isolated individuals and so, secure better the terms and condition of employment. Nevertheless, in 1979when the conservative party won the election, everything changed. The new government used a lot measures to restrict the role of trade unions. In addition, it introduced an enterprise culture in which individuals and organisations, rather than government, were to be held responsible for economic performance. Thus, as well as rejecting the maintenance of full employment as a major policy objective, they in effect abandoned the commitment of their

Mary Barnett Trial Handoutiter's choice Essay Example | Topics and Well Written Essays - 750 words

Mary Barnett Trial Handoutiter's choice - Essay Example The case was categorized as a second degree murder because Mary Barnett was charged with intentional murder without premeditation. I have been asked to be on the jury to review the testimony and claims of the defendant, prosecution, and witnesses, and to come up with a fair verdict. Caroline Hospers’ statement clearly indicates that Mary Barnett was addicted to liquor products, and she could never carry out the duties and responsibilities of a good mother. In other words, Barnett had been following a bad lifestyle mainly because she lived without a husband. Hospers’ argument that Barnett went to visit her fiancà © ‘just to party and have a good time’ with him cannot be taken into account because it is Hospers’ personal view only (Chaffee para 4). Perhaps, Barnett and Caroline might not be in good terms, and therefore Hospers’ observation that ‘the baby was not taken care of properly’ should not be considered in order to support prosecution arguments (Chaffee para 4). Officer Mitchell tells that Barnett intentionally left her baby to get to California in time and she was aware that she would not be back for a while. Referring to Barnett’s initial responses, Mitchell asserts that Barnett was really informed of what she was going to do when she planned to leave the baby unattended in the apartment. Taking care of the baby was not the first priority of Barnett because she was extremely excited to visit her fiancà © at that time. Although Barnett had tried to arrange a babysitter for Alison, she could not find one, and therefore she just decided to leave her baby in the apartment for a few days. While analyzing the view of Dr. Parker, a professional psychiatrist, the defendant is competent to stand the trail on the charges she was accused of because Barnett developed depression and anxiety problems only after the shocking death of her daughter. According to Dr. Parker, Barnett â€Å"was mentally competent on

Understanding children and young people Essay Example for Free

Understanding children and young people Essay Children’s development is influenced by a variety of different personal factors, such as: †¢health status †¢disability †¢sensory impairment †¢learning difficulties Health status: A child health status could be determined by their genes or factors such as environment, diet and stress this could have a big impact on the child development. A child being born into a family that both parents carry a trait of sickle cell, that child has one in four chance of being born with sickle cell anaemia. Due to the illness the child sequences and rate development could be affected because of the illness. A child living in a poor environment where it is cold and damp is mostly to develop asthma and also has a bad diet could become obesity or undernourished. This could affect a child aspect of development as they may feel they dont want to play with other children because of their weight or they cant play because their illness restrict what they can do. Children could find it hard to settle in a nursery/ playgroup because they have missed session due to illness this could also be stressful for the child because they might find it hard to make friends. As an nursery worker or playgroup leader you should always make children with an illness or coming from a poor background should all be treated equal and make sure they miss out as little as possible. Disability Sensory impairment: Children born with disabilities could affect their aspect development for example A child in a wheelchair or with a serious physical impairment would find it hard to do many activities, particularity those that are physically demanding. Gross motor skills would be at a less developed rate than peers and fine motor skills may be affected if the child had little or no control over their limbs. Although a disability can affect a child development there should always support and opportunities for children to be able to learn and develop , for example a child should have one to one support or a key worker where that person is allocated to that child to help them gain and learn the same as their peers. Learning difficulties: There are many different types of learning  difficulties which can affect a child aspect development in many different ways and also rate of development. Learning difficulties does affect everyone in different ways as we are different individuals they are also present differently at various stages of development. Cognitive development is majorly affected as it covers the way the brain processes information. Learning difficulties prevents the brains ability to receive, process, store, respond to and communicate information. For example a child that is dyslexic will have trouble confusing letter names and sounds, difficulties blending sounds into words, slow rate of reading, trouble remembering after reading text. They will find it hard to concentrate in school as it affects their intellectual skills, this could lead the child feeling left out with their peers. They may might need to have one-to-one lessons at school to help educate them as they may not be at the same cognitive stage as peers.

Comparing the Trial in The Plague and Hamlet :: comparison compare contrast essays

The Archetype of the Trial in The Plague and Hamlet      Ã‚  Ã‚   Rare is the tale without a conflict, without a challenge to overcome. However, to even reach the challenge the hero must first pass through the Trial. The archetype of the Trial can be found in almost any folktale. King Arthur must draw the sword from the stone to prove himself fit to be king. Hercules must face labors to atone for the murders committed in his madness. It is prominent in other areas of literature as well; it is especially well represented in The Plague by Albert Camus and Hamlet by William Shakespeare.    The Trial serves two purposes: to prove worth and to atone for wrongs and purify. When the Trial is used to prove the worth of the hero, the hero must prove that he is capable and worthy enough to be the hero and that he will be able to face the ultimate conflict. This aspect of the Trial is what is also known as the Initiation (Campbell 97). In Arthurian mythology Arthur must pull the Excalibur from the stone. This trial proves him worthy to be king because only the true heir to the crown is able to draw the sword. The basis of authority for his rule is thus established. In Hamlet, Prince Hamlet must endure heart wrenching grief, betrayal by those closest to him, and murder in order to prove that he is fit to take action. However, while Arthur had to prove to the nobles of the land that he was fit to be king, Hamlet's trial is an inward proof to himself that he is in the right and his father's death must be avenged.    The Trial is also used to purify the hero and help him atone for evils. This is seen clearly in the Hercules legend of Greek mythology. The jealous goddess Hera uses her power to make Hercules insane and in his madness he slaughters his own children. He then journeys to Delphi and consults the oracle which tells him that he must serve for ten years as his cousin Eurytheus' servant and must perform ten labors. Through his labors he is able to atone for his past evil deeds and regain the favor of the gods (D'Aulaire 132-146).    Hamlet is a tale which puts many of its characters through trials but none suffer as much as Prince Hamlet himself.

Threats of a Cyber Attack - 811 Words

Introduction Cyber threats are currently of large enough significance to enough to constitute a full blown national security priority in the West and the United States. In fact, we may be at zero hour. In order to better understand the challenges that cyber infrastructures are facing, it is necessary to understand the level of the threat that is posed, where the potential threats may emanate from, the techniques which help in identifying emerging cyber security threats posed by those who perpetrate computer-based crimes and attacks and the level of protection required.
